How to become that girl in 2024! I love a fresh start, a rebrand, a glow up, & there’s no better time than the start of a new year! Here are some ideas to help you become the best version of yourself in 2024 —
WELLNESS
Taking care of yourself & your wellness practices is one of the first steps to becoming your best self. A lot of people have fitness goals at this time of year, & that’s great! However, I believe deciding to change your lifestyle will help you see results faster. You can do this by embodying a version of yourself who is already healthy or at your fitness goals! Ask yourself, “would a healthy person do this?” before making any decisions in your day. Ex: “Would a healthy person take the stairs or would they take the elevator?” “Would the best version of myself eat a healthy dinner? or eat fast food?”
These little changes make all the difference. Become the version of yourself who is already healthy! You’ll be surprised at how fast you see results in your life!
Ways to improve your wellness:
Get started with meditation and positive affirmations. I use the Super Human App & I listen to this while cleaning, getting ready for the day, or I do a night time meditation!
Read “Atomic Habits” by James Clear. This book shows you how to improve your life by looking at the small habits you’ve already formed and shifting them. For example, I used to wake up and look at my phone immediately. After noticing this bad habit, I now wake up & have a morning routine. After this routine is done, I check my phone & am able to respond to my emails and texts in a more peaceful mindset.
Try class pass & find different workouts that resonate with you before signing up for a membership. I used to dread working out until I found Pilates & Yoga. Now, I actually look forward to my workouts and I look at it as “me time”. Try different classes & don’t give up until you find something you love doing! It’s pilates for me, but it could be kickboxing for you! You won’t know until you try.
Find gratitude for what you have. Being happy with what you have now is so powerful. It not only makes you feel better, but it gives you a more positive energy & helps you attract more good things in your life. I use the Five Minute Journal and write what I’m grateful for everyday. It literally takes 5 mins or less & it starts off my day on a posiitve note.
Get morning light for at least 15 to 30 minutes. I know this is difficult for people like me who live in areas where the sun hardly shines! So, I got a light therapy lamp on amazon, & I put it on while I journal in the morning. Morning light helps relieve sadness / depression & it also helps your bodies circadian rhythm. AKA - how your body knows when to wake up and when it’s time to wind down and go to sleep.
BEAUTY ROUTINES
I love my beauty routines, so you know I have to give some of my favorite beauty products & tips! All of these beauty practices have helped me to feel and look like my best self. Remember, you don’t have to do any of this to be ‘That Girl’ but these are the routines that have worked for me.
Ways to improve your beauty routines:
Having a bright white smile always makes me feel like the ideal version of myself. I whiten my teeth at home with strips from Lumineux & I get them on amazon for $20! They’re enamel safe and they give me immediate results. I usually apply them once a week to keep up with a white looking smile. This little trick is an immediate glow up!
I know I’ve said this a million times but get a gua-sha and use it daily in your skincare routine! This face tool reduces puffiness and gives you a more structured looking jaw line. If you don’t know how to use it, I suggest getting a Nuface face toning tool. I’ve seen such a huge difference in my skin since using it. It lifts and tones your face in 5 minutes.
Scalp health. If you have problems with hair thinning, hair loss, or your hair is damaged, you need to start prioritizing your scalp health! Hair health starts at the root, and it’s important to treat your scalp like the skin on your face. It really is that important! I use a rosemary hair oil once a week and massage my scalp with a hair scrubber. My hair is the healthiest it’s ever looked!
A fake tan will make you feel like the best version of yourself, I promise you! I love all of the self tanning products from lux unfiltered & lately I’ve been using loving tan’s mousse in shade dark.
Invest in your skincare. I love getting professional facials as often as I can, and investing in medical grade skincare. My favorite lines are skin better & glymed! I believe skincare is the foundation in beauty routines, & good products make all the difference!
GOAL SETTING
Making a list of 5 short term goals and 5 long term goals will help you stay on track to becoming the best version of you! I write these goals down and place them in my office so I can remember what I’m working towards daily.
Ways to goal set for 2024:
I’ve always been a visual learner, so creating a vision board for what I want in my year always works well for me! I recommend making a vision board if you’re feeling uninspired or if you want to clarify your goals. I vision board by getting a foam board from staples, and I tape on photos that I find off of Pinterest. I like using tape because the glue usually ruins the paper printouts! I suggest making 4 sections on your board - wellness, short term goals you want to hit this year, professional / work goals, & the last section should be HUGE dream goals. Be very specific when you create this vision for yourself. Ex: If you want to be in Forbes 30 under 30 — literally print a picture of yourself & place yourself in an article! Be as specific as you can.
Write all of your goals down on a piece of paper and tape it on the back of your vision board. This way, at the end of next year you can check off the goals you hit!
Create specific times in your schedule to work on your goal. For example, if you want to become good at yoga, you would make time every tuesday night for a yoga class. Taking action & making time in your specific schedule will give you results fast!
Dream big! Push yourself to set goals that scare you, or that feel “unrealistic”. Anything is possible. Ask yourself - If not me, who? If not now, when?
Lastly, it’s inevitable that you’re going to have days, weeks, or even months, where you don’t hit your goals. The best way to find success is by how fast your bounce back rate is. How fast does it take you to forgive yourself, and bounce back? The faster you can forgive yourself & try again, the faster you’re going to get there. So many of us feel bad about the goals we didn’t hit, and then completely give up… but what if you decided to just bounce back?
If you fall off of your goals, just start again, and again… and AGAIN! This is how you’ll find success. Don’t be afraid to give yourself another shot.
Final thoughts
I already know this is your year. Be proud of how far you’ve come, let go of everything that hasn’t served you this year, and move forward.
