Travel Guide To Capri, Italy

A fashion bloggers guide to Capri, Italy! Here are some of my overall thoughts on Capri, & what to do while you’re visiting! Let’s get into it!

In April of this year (2023), I traveled through Southern Italy! I stayed on the Amalfi Coast & went to Positano, Ravello, the town of Amalfi, & the island of Capri! Everyone asked me what my favorite area of the Amalfi coast was, & it’s so hard to choose because all of the areas are unique & absolutely beautiful in their own way. However, the island of Capri really stood out to me & I LOVED it. Today I wanted to share some insight on the island, and a travel guide if you’re visiting for the first time!

How to get there?

The only way to get to Capri is by a boat or a ferry. We bought our ferry tickets at Amalfi and took a ferry from there. The ferry’s do get booked quickly, so make sure to get your ticket ahead of time! The ferry was extremely crowded on our ride, & we had to stand for almost the entire time! Keep this in mind & try to get in line for the ferry as early as you can so you can get a good seat.

What To Wear?

Italy in general has sooo many steps, and a lot of walking. Capri is the same! I suggest only wearing sneakers if you’re visiting. Initially I thought I would be able to wear a small heel on my trip and I was SO wrong. I wore little white sneakers the entire time I was in Italy, & highly suggesting this for anyone visiting. Unless you have a short walk to dinner, sneakers are going to be your best friend.

Shopping

Best boutique on the island: Cathaleia located in the main town square of capri

After getting to the ferry port you will immediately be overwhelmed with stunning views, colors, boats, and lots of restaurants and shopping! Personally, I thought the stores at the port were a tourist trap! A lot of the clothes, bags, hats etc. were so expensive, & not the best quality. If you’re touring other parts of the Amalfi Coast, I thought Positano had the best boutique shops overall. However, Capri has handmade sandals that are made right in front of you! You can pick out your strap colors, they size your foot for the bottom, & it’s such a memorable experience. They even put your initials on the shoe! So cute. I definitely suggest getting handmade sandals from Capri. If you love designer shopping, at the top of Capri (the main area) they have every designer store you can think of!!

Where to Eat?

Let’s be honest, there is no “bad” food in italy! Everywhere you go has fresh, incredible food. Of course, there are some spots that are extra special:

De Paolino: This is a lemon orchard that was turned into a restaurant. You sit “under a sky of lemons” - they have lemons everywhere!! It’s so picture perfect. They serve a lemoncello spritz (a MUST), and you have to order the lemon ravioli. This destination is popular with celebrities and literally everyone wants a table here. Make your reservations way ahead of time!! (This restaurant is only open during their main season)

Giorgio al Cucciolo: This restaurant is located in Anacapri, the top of the island, and requires special transportation. It’s in a confusing place so when you make a reservation they send a driver to pick you up. Upon arriving you are stunned by the panoramic views and if you’re there for sunset - you’re in luck. This is a very special and unique experience, with amazing food of course!

Other suggestions:

Al Grottino (romantic)

Il Riccio (expensive but gorgeous)

Buca di Bacco (local spot)

Al Capri don Alfonso (amazing view)

Quisisana Hotel (great place for lunch & beautiful views)

BEST GELATO - Buonocore (really long lines for this! be prepared)

What To do?

If it’s the summer season, I would suggest a boat tour! You have to check out the Blue Grotto!!

Giardini di Augusto is a garden that has the most beautiful views of Capri! It’s definitely worth seeing.

BEACH PHOTO OPPORTUNITY - If you’re looking for an IG moment, and the perfect beach day check out Fontelina !

I hope you have a fabulous time on your trip! xoxo
